Anima
Anima
A familiar circle with a new purpose
A dark disc with a contrasting centre immediately recalls a record. Anima uses that recognisable relationship as a lighting form: a broad circular face, a fine edge and a metal support. It is a reference that can be understood without filling the room with musical objects or asking the lamp to imitate a turntable.
Across the table, floor, wall and ceiling designs, the disc remains the family’s common element. A tapered upright and circular base establish the freestanding models; the wall and ceiling versions give more importance to the point where the support meets the architecture. The dark metal shade is therefore seen at different heights and from different angles, while the brass brings a warmer, narrower line into the composition.
The position of the disc changes the object
Articulated joints make orientation part of Anima’s design. Tilting or turning the disc changes both the direction of the fitting and the amount of dark surface presented to the room. A more upright position reveals the circle; closer to horizontal, its fine edge becomes clearer. The movable disc connects the practical adjustment with the graphic character, rather than treating the joint as a hidden mechanism.
This matters differently at each position. On a table, the disc is seen alongside objects and furniture; on the floor lamp it meets the seated viewpoint at another height. A wall or ceiling mounting lets the same circular form engage with a larger architectural surface. The available directions of movement belong to the selected model, while the design remains recognisable across the family.
Within our contemporary lighting, Anima has the clarity of a simple motif. Timber grain, textured plaster and soft upholstery can sit beside its precise circle, giving that graphic shape a more tactile setting. The musical reference remains present in the object, leaving the room free to tell the rest of its own story.
