A pendant gives a covered outdoor space a centre without taking up a wall. Above a dining table, it becomes part of the setting for everyday meals and evenings with guests. In a sheltered entrance, a hanging lantern can mark the approach to the door. Along a long veranda, repeating a design can bring continuity to separate seating or dining areas.

These settings call for different proportions. Over a table, consider the fitting in relation to the tabletop and the view between people sitting opposite each other. In an entrance or passage, leave comfortable headroom and room for doors to open. Check the selected model’s protection rating and installation requirements for the actual exposure.

Conical shades and hanging lanterns

The collection ranges from broad, shallow brass shades to rounded glass forms and lanterns with metalwork around the diffuser. A conical shade creates a clear horizontal line beneath a roof or timber beam. A lantern gives more prominence to the glass and a more vertical outline. Metal cages and curved supports introduce the nautical and harbour references found throughout the range.

These dimensions help relate the fitting to the ceiling and the furniture below.
