Bathroom Glass Shelves

Choosing the brasswork

Two shelves in the same finish can create a different result beneath a mirror. Ghidini 1849’s collection varies the rail, posts and wall fittings as well as the surface colour. Clear glass keeps those metal details visible, so their shape matters when coordinating the washbasin area.

• Plain rails and slender supports suit a quieter arrangement, particularly when the mirror or taps already carry ornament.
• A twisted rail gives the shelf a more decorative edge, making a feature beneath a simple mirror.
• Shaped or ornamented wall fittings give the two mounting points more prominence, echoing decorative hardware elsewhere in the room.

Our Italian production brings our experience in decorative brasswork to these smaller bathroom fittings. The choice is how much of that detail to introduce, from a restrained outline to more elaborate classical forms.

Between mirror and basin

Below a mirror, the shelf’s upper rail forms a second horizontal line. Leaving a clear strip of wall between shelf and frame lets both details remain distinct. The shelf’s projection also needs to work with the tap, leaving room to reach the controls and lift everyday bottles from the glass.

A shelf can share the character of the other fittings without repeating every detail. Our bathroom accessories collection offers related pieces to continue that choice around the room.

Coordinate the brass finish

Bronze Satin Brass and Antique Brass bring warmer tones; Chrome Plated offers a cooler reflection, while selected models are available in 24K Gold Plated. Finishes vary by design, so consider the preferred surface and the chosen shelf together.

Our finishes guide helps compare appearance and care before coordinating the shelf with taps and accessories. Glass and treated brass need care suited to their own surfaces; follow the guidance for the selected finish rather than applying one cleaning routine to the whole shelf.
