Our indoor collection brings together different ways of working with brass: curved chandelier arms with floral ornament, articulated desk lamps, broad metal shades and compositions of slender tubes or glass. At Ghidini 1849, Italian artisanal production connects these different designs without giving every lamp the same character. A multi-arm chandelier and a simple metal pendant can share a material while offering very different starting points for a room.

The choice can begin with the kind of detail the interior needs:

• Decorative classics: our Art Deco and Art Nouveau collection brings together geometric decoration, floral glass and richly worked brass. Pleated fabric shades offer another way to accompany curved arms, with a softer material beside the metal.
• Rustic and industrial forms: metal pendants and glass lanterns make shades, joints and protective frames part of the design. Their construction can suit a quiet contemporary interior as well as a country house.
• Contemporary compositions: our contemporary lamps include single geometric bodies, branching arrangements and cascades. Repeating a simple element lets the composition become more elaborate while each individual part remains restrained.

Brass, shades and the visible light source

The material around a bulb matters as much as the outline of the fitting. Clear glass leaves the light source visible; white or frosted glass gives greater emphasis to the shade's surface. Pleated fabric adds texture around the source, while a metal shade has a distinct outer surface and underside. These differences explain why two brass lamps can create very different impressions, even in the same finish.

Our range includes glass in floral, rounded and geometric forms, fabric shades and all-metal designs. Green glass brings colour to a banker's lamp; ivory fabric can repeat the softer textures of upholstery; an all-metal pendant shows its finish across a broader surface. Chandeliers and pendants range from radial arrangements to compositions that extend along a table. Where a suspended fitting would occupy too much of the room's height, ceiling lights offer a more compact starting point. This relationship between the fitting and the architecture is worth considering alongside its decorative detail.
